Report: Human-Caused Global Warming Now Detected on Every Continent

A new report has delivered conclusive proof for the first time that human pollution is causing global warming on every continent, including Antarctica. Via The Independent:
"We're able for the first time to directly attribute warming in both the Arctic and the Antarctic to human influences on the climate," said Nathan Gillett of the Climate Research Unit at the University of East Anglia, who led the study.
The report, led by University of East Anglia’s Climatic Research Unit and published in the journal Nature Geoscience, is confirmation of predicted results but no less monumental. Pinning down the precise causes of warming in the poles has been tricky for lack of historical data. Especially in Antarctica. But now, says study co-author Alexey Karpechko in the New Scientist:
It can't be more clear that human activity is responsible.
The report analyzed more than 100 years of temperatures from the Arctic and 50 years in the Antarctic. A description of the climate modelling used, via Nature:
Previous work has seen Antarctica temperature records ranging from 1900 to the present day collated into one data set. Gillett and his colleagues compared changes detailed in that data set with temperature changes simulated in four different climate models, running the models both with and without human influence factors.
Changes actually observed did not fit with the models when only natural climate changes and variability were present. They were only explainable when human influence on the climate was taken into account.
The UN IPCC’s Fourth Assessment Report of 2007 concluded that human-caused climate change has been detected on every continent -- except Antarctica. Reason: "insufficient observational coverage to make an assessment."
No longer. Humans are to blame for warming, everywhere. Concludes Karpechko in CNN:
This is really frightening.
The study should, theoretically, help to silence climate denialists who question man-made warming and its dangers.
