Denialists Disseminate Fraudulent List of Naysaying Scientists

Dennis Avery of the Heartland Institute has published an alphabetical list of 500 scientists whom he says doubt the veracity of global warming.

All it took was one e-mail to expose the fraudulence of the list.

DeSmog Blog manager Kevin Grandia emailed 122 of the scientists yesterday afternoon, calling their attention to the list. So far - in less than 24 hours - three dozen of those scientists had responded in outrage, denying that their research supports Avery's conclusions and demanding that their names be removed.

Grandia may have killed two birds with one stone. Avery says his alphabetical list is derived from a larger piece of work, now equally discredited.

This partial listing is derived primarily from the citations in our book, Unstoppable Global Warming Every 1,500 Years. As the time of our small staff permits, we will publish additional studies and their authors to support the very important view that the Modern Warming is natural and no more dangerous than were the Medieval Warming, the Roman Warming and the Holocene Warming before it.

Do take a look at the full story. Here's one sample of the outrage DeSmog Blog is cataloging:

I am horrified to find my name on such a list. I have spent the last 20 years arguing the opposite.
